iClone 8 Features

SpaceMouse

Object Mode

The SpaceMouse cap represents the model (object) on your screen. The model mirrors all movements of the cap.

Example:
Push the SpaceMouse cap right, the model moves to the right. Twist the cap to the right and your model rotates in place to the right. Lift the cap up/down and the model moves up/down.

Camera Mode

The SpaceMouse cap controls the viewport (camera) inside a scene. The view mirrors all movements of the cap.

Example:
Push the SpaceMouse cap to the right to pan your view to the right. Twist the cap right to turn your view to the right. Lift the cap to vertically move your view up.

Target Camera Mode

The SpaceMouse cap controls the viewport (camera) in the context of what you are looking at (the target). You will orbit around what you are looking at (the center of your view).

Example:
Push the cap forward and your view moves into the scene. Push left and your view moves to the left. Twist the cap in any direction and your view will orbit around the view center.

Dynamic Timeline Scrubbing

For timeline scrubbing use the SpaceMouse like a jog dial for fast frame search, track scroller, or zoom in / out.

  • Paced animation playback.
  • Pan, zoom, and fast scroll through timeline when seeking frames.
  • Adaptive scroll speed according to dial range.
  • Custom hotkey triggers – set key, break, loop, speed, etc

Note: Enable timeline scrubbing in your iClone preferences (3Dconnexion settings).

Auto Rotation Center

Sets the center of rotation dynamically, depending on your model’s position in relation to your view. When the complete model is in view, the entire model’s volume center is used as a pivot. When moving closer, the pivot changes to the view center.

Selected Item Rotation Center

Takes only selected items into account when calculating the pivot position.

Horizon Lock

Forces the horizon to be kept levelled.

Rotation Lock

Manually toggles rotations On / Off.

CadMouse

QuickZoom

Zoom and center the model detail behind the mouse cursor.

SmoothZoom

When QuickZoom In / QuickZoom Out are mapped to a button, a long-press of the corresponding button will continuously zoom in and out as long as the button is pressed down.

Note: On certain buttons you may need to disable the on-screen display to use SmoothZoom as a long-press function.
