How to synchronize 3DxWare settings between multiple machines (Windows)

It is possible to synchronize your 3DxWare (Driver) settings between multiple machines using a Cloud drive. This works as follows:

  1. Make sure that you have administrative permissions.
  2. Stop the 3DxWare Driver (Start->3Dconnexion->Stop 3DxWare)
  3. Move the “Cfg” folder containing your 3DxWare settings to your cloud drive (e.g., D:\Cloud\3Dxconf\). You can find the “Cfg” folder by entering %APPDATA%\3Dconnexion\3DxWare in the Windows search and confirming with Enter.
  4. Create a new symbolic link to the new (synchronized) folder using the command line.
    • Open a command prompt (cmd.exe) with elevated (administrative) permissions
    • Type:

mklink /D “%APPDATA%\3Dconnexion\3DxWare\Cfg” “ D:\Cloud\3Dxconf\Cfg

Where “D:\Cloud\3Dxconf\Cfg” is the location, you chose in Step 3.

5. On the second machine delete the %APPDATA%\3Dconnexion\3DxWare\Cfg folder and link to the same synchronized folder as before in step 4.

6. Start 3DxWare again (Start->3Dconnexion->Start 3DxWare).
